Achilles Tendonitis

What Is Achilles Tendonitis?

Achilles tendonitis is an overuse injury of the fibrous tissue that joins the calf muscle to the back of the foot. Achilles Tendonitis can result in intense pain particularly after activity; and modified gait patterns.

Causes & Treatment of Achilles Tendonitis

The Achilles tendon can become overused from  poor foot function, poor footwear, previous trauma or just too much activity.

Erica Dash Podiatry will use a Biomechanical Assessment to identify any contributing factors before they cause chronic issues. Effective treatment may include:

  • supportive cushioning and a heel raise in your shoes
  • Same day customised orthotics
  • exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles and tendons in the feet and legs.

It is important to treat a soft tissue injury promptly, otherwise the inflammation and irritation may develop into a chronic condition.
